Laura Ingalls Designs

 About Laura

Laura has been making jewelry since she was a teenager – remember macramé way back when?  She is a designer and dreamer of many mediums from interiors to clothing to shoes to jewelry.  She has learned in life that it is important to follow our passions, and so she started Laura Ingalls Designs.

Laura Ingalls is her real name.  Her mother tells it she had never heard of the author Laura Ingalls Wilder.  She read Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys but she loved the name Laura.  When Laura was in the fourth grade, during library hour a girlfriend exclaimed, “Laura there is an author with your name!”  Naturally they read all of the books and had a great time acting out the stories of Laura and her family traveling across the prairie.

Laura Ingalls Designs jewelry combines elements of American history with a distinctive use of color and texture.  Her jewelry collections are eclectic and combine her love for the Southwest and nature.  The pieces available at Maker Mercantile are made from recycled western tack, such as leather reins.

Her designs have been featured in Cowboys and Indians Magazine, CHROME, American Paint Horse Journal, Cowgirl Magazine, Western & English, Tack n' Togs and Modern Arabian.  Her designs can be found in specialty stores and boutiques across the country.
